Club Director Jeff Horr established Suncoast Volleyball Club in 2005. The club was formed to provide a competitive travel club which specialized in training the younger athlete. In Suncoast’s inaugural year, the club started out with 4 teams and 38 members. The following year, at the request of parents and athletes, Suncoast expanded their program to include the high school level. Since 2005, Suncoast has grown to 12 USAV Teams, 4 AAU teams and now consists of over 150 members. In May of 2009, Suncoast was listed as the 11th largest club in the USAV Florida Region.
Suncoast has grown in popularity due to the quality of our instruction, the quality of our athletes and the quality of our parents who represent our club. Suncoast does not actively recruit athletes; moreover our growth depends upon our reputation and word of mouth.
Mission Statement
Suncoast Volleyball Club is a place where young athletes can develop their volleyball skills in a safe, fun, and educationally sound environment. It is a club where coaches and parents work together to build both the athletes volleyball skills as well as their life skills. We make success possible and strive to ensure players grow as a person as well as an athlete. Players as well as staff are expected to work hard, play hard and have fun! We believe success is not relative to wins or losses! We feel every win and every loss is a learning experience for our athletes. While winning is by far not the most important thing, the will to win is! Suncoast Coaches challenge their athletes both mentally and physically while providing a positive environment in which each and every athlete thrives and develops to their best potential.
At Suncoast, we expect everyone, including athletes, parents and coaches to have a positive experience. If a disagreement occurs, it is expected that everyone involved - athlete, parent, and coach, will handle the situation in a positive and corrective manner.
